The Capital of the Department of Magdalena is the city of Santa Marta founded in 1525 by Rodrigo de Bastidas, is the second oldest city in South America, is located in the bay of the same name, 34 kilometers from this is the Tayrona National Natural Park is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and with an area of 225 square kilometers,  Is habitat of a large number of species that are located in different thermal floors ranging from sea level to 900 meters, the park has a maritime surface formed by corals that give a white color to its beaches in addition to a rocky coastline with mangroves and lagoons in the terrestrial side has a great diversity of flora and fauna,  Is a perfect place for relaxation and recreation, also ideal for the sighting of all kinds of mammals and birds, another place also near Santa Marta is The Lost City also known as Teyuna or Buritaca 200 discovered in 1976 and with an antiquity of the eighth century of our era by the Tayrona Indians is located between 900 and 1,300 meters,  It is a site like others in Colombia, World Heritage Site, it is an archaeological site composed of terraces and platforms connected by stairs, it has a dimension of 12,000 square meters, definitely this is a place that must be visited and known, because it was taken to the jungle to preserve it and to know one of the many indigenous culture of Colombia.

Lost City located in the foothills of Cerro Correa in the northern area of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level and on the margin of the Buritica River, is a unique complex of constructions with cobbled roads with stairs and walls that communicate with platforms and terraces,  it is a place that after knowing it will be engraved in our mind.

The Tayrona Park and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta are home to many species in flora and fauna, ideal for people who want to enjoy seeing these in their natural environment, birds, jaguars, ocelots, tigrillos, pumas, in flora, orchids as well as countless tropical flowers and more than 770 varieties of plants as well as 350 algae of different species in the maritime strip.

In the Tayrona park ideal place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the big cities, from the viewpoint in Cabo San Juan Guía, Playa Cristal, Arrecifes or the Pool, where you can enjoy its white sand beaches and its turquoise or deep blue sea, paradisiacal sites and enjoy the sun and its sea.

Santa Marta is a city located in a bay of the same name in the Caribbean Sea and in the north of Colombia, it is the capital of the department of Magdalena, it is the oldest city in Colombia, it has a cargo and tourist port, dock for yachts and sailboats, number hotels, restaurants, discos, beaches and a lot of sea,  it is the starting point to go to the Lost City and the Tayrona Natural Park.
